The power of the PAUSE. The intentional delay in talking to gather our thoughts. Think of a pause as a way to catch our breath so we won’t have to eat our words. I realize many of us (Including me) have eaten so much crow we actually have developed a taste for it, but eating crow is not a delicacy.

A pause allows our mind to catch up to our mouth.

It also allows our body language not to go cuckoo when we are majorly offended by something. ( Prevents the violent shaking of fingers, heads, and eyeballs popping out of sockets.)

If negative words spill out they might be effective, but will they have a positive effect? No word is ever as effective as the perfectly timed pause.

I think God does some of His best work in the “pause” moments.

Instead of being “quick on the draw” with an untamed tongue, practice pausing and let God, our solid rock, rearrange, interrupt, and redirect our words today. It’s a good thing. A real good thing.

Here’s to a good day!

1Peter 3:10 “For, “Whoever would love life and see good days must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from deceitful speech.”
